VALENTINES ANKLE

2/15/2016

Was up guys,

This past week has been crazy in the sense that we found 11 NEW INVESTIGATORS this week! WE  LITERALLY talked to everyone and don't take no for an answer! We picked up a few former's as investigators again and are excited to start re-teaching them!
We set a few dates in March and May for some of our investigators and got 3 of them to church this week!
Other than that the only other thing that was super exciting this week was the fact that I Rolled my ankle on Saturday playing basketball. I landed on some guys foot coming down from a rebound and my ankle was on the floor before the rest of my leg was and felt two distinct pops. Long story short, if you were to take two really big eggs and put them on the side of your foot and ankle, that's what my foot looks like. I am getting xrays tomorrow to see what the verdict is! Hopefully it's nothing and I'm just being a wuss about it! I've been on crutches the past few days though so we'll see.
Saturday night we had a Valentines dance and I got to dance on my one foot with my cute date, ELder Brenneman! It was tons of fun! Hope everyone had a great week and Happy Late Valentines Day!

ANGER subdued with SPIRIT

So this week was...wow. Just very spiritual altogether.

To start on Tuesday we got to go to the temple and it was amazing! I seriously just love the temple sooooo much and I'm so blessed to be able to have one to go to while on my mission!

2/8/2016

Then on Thursday we had this AMAZING zone conference where I was very spiritually chastised but also very spiritually uplifted as well!

On Friday is where the Spiritual fire hit it's max though. Friday night we didn't have any set appointments that night so instead of going in early (I HATE going in early and avoid going in early at almost ALL cost) we went walking around to find people. We walked a couple miles and then turned back so we could get in before curfew. We were on our way back and I saw this shortcut through a lodge (bar) parking lot so we took it. We were going through and we saw this guy and his wife next to smoking next to his truck and went to talk to them! We walked up and said hi and he said, "I don't talk to Mormons." So I asked if I could just shake his hand and he hesitated then said yes and Elder Brenneman asked him Why he doesn't talk to Mormons. he answered w and said, "Well have either of you smashed a bottle over your head?" To which both of us replied...no. And he said that's why he doesn't talk to Mormons. We continued trying and he finally said he'd give us a chance to "sell him our religion". We clarified that we don't "sell" our religion we just go around talking about and help people grow their faith in Jesus Christ. After getting to know him a bit more and teaching him a little about God's plan for us his drunk buddy came out and says and I quote, "Hello Satan!", individually to both Elder Brenneman and I. We say hi and continue teaching and he interrupts and slides uncomfortably close to Elder Brenneman so he can get "comfortable while we teach". As time went o he went off on us, while using profanities with I kid you no...every other word, and told us how we are a cult and how we're going to burn in hell and that the Bible doesn't teach us "$h@!" as well as a lot of other things. During this 5 minute rant at us my anger is building pretty high but I can also feel the Spirit really well too. For those of you that really know me, you all know that if you piss me off enough I will explode at some point. And I was getting to that point. I HATE people telling me I'm living my life wrong and that I don't know anything. I hate when people get in my friends faces and threaten me. And he was doing all of the above and more! But like I said, I felt the spirit very strongly, and honestly I could not open my mouth to say what I wanted to say. I was ready to chew/beat the crap ouit of this drunk guy but I LITERALLY could not talk! It turns out, the whole time he was going off on us I had he biggest smile on my face and this guy stopped near the end of his rant and said, "and this kid! I want knock his mother!@$%ing teeth out right now cause all he does is smile." TO which I responded (and this is the only thing that came out, this was the last thing that I wanted to say) "I'm just so happy!" and shook my head! He stopped for a second cause I caught him off guard and he then used me smiling as more proof that our religion is a *insert profanity here* cult!
After he finished, Elder Brenneman and I bore on last testimony while the whole time after every two words the drunk friend kept telling us to "F$@ off" and we left.
When we got home we talked about what happened and both of our experiences and how we had both felt the Spirit sooo strongly during that whole thing! Elder Brenneman said he felt so comfortable and knew that even if that guy had swung at him, he knew i was ready to intercept and maul him if needed be.
Overall, that whole experience was a HUGE testimony builder for me. I KNOW this church is true. People can say, scream,etc...whatever they want at me and that's not going to change my mind. I'm so happy to be here in Porterville and I'm so happy to have been able to a plant a spiritual seed in those two gentleman's hearts that will one day help them really be prepared to here the gospel form some other missionaries. Ilove you all so much and hope you have a great week!
Till next time,

Tracted a Couple Buying Prego

2/2/2016

This week has been awesome! I love the rain sooooo much! It has been super rainy!!

This past week we picked up 2 investigators (guy and fiance who were high school sweethearts and got prego) who are pretty solid about getting baptized on the 20th. The only problem is that the fiance is on probation, and church policy is that she has to get interviewed by President Clark before she can get baptized! But I think they will be fine! We also just have to get them married...so that will be an interesting topic to bring up. It's really weird, a lot of people in Porterville are basically married, but don't want to actually be "legally" married. It's like they are afraid if they actually do get married that life will suddenly change even though people have been together for like 30+ years sometimes.

Also, on Saturday we had our baptism!! It was GREAT!! Stressful...but great! We started the baptism about 25 minutes late cause we were waiting for people to bring Destiny and Megan clothes to change into but the rest of the program went very well!

2 days ago Elder Brenneman and I went and contacted some Hmong people and I have my first real ALL Hmong appointment (by myself) tonight at 8 (pray for me dearly cause I am going to need it more than life itself).

Other than that nothing else really happened! I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying the rain in AZ!!

1st Week in New Area

1/25/2016

This week was amazing! It rained EVERYDAY! And something new happened to me, I finally found a reason to hate rain. I HATE riding a bike in rain. IT SUCKS!! Riding a bike in the rain is awful because you get soaked form head to toe and every little piece of mud you accidentally run over gets flung right back up at you. Bu I'm proud to say I can ride my bike with no handle bars now! I like to pretend I'm a bird flapping it's wings while flying off into the distance! It makes me feel cool mostly though.
We found 9 NEW INVESTIGATORS this past week just through street contacting! Elder Brenneman and I are killing it out here in Porterville and are excited for our baptism that we have this weekend (the first of many). They are 2 girls named Destiny (11) and her sister Megen (9). They aee super cool and know and comprehend a lot about the gospel! I'm so excited for them!!

These past 2 weeks I was also able to go back up to Merced for some baptisms for 2 different investigators that I taught! It was so awesome and I'm so proud of Emily and Nancy and their decisions to be baptized!

Hope you all had a great week! Kuv Hlub Nej

1st Transfer on my Mission

1/18/2016

HEYO,

So on Tuesday morning I had to separate from Elder Pace (hardest thing of my mission thus far). I got him to cry! It's his first time crying on his mission and i'm the one who got him to do it! Our last 4 1/2 months together i will never forget. He is an amazing, missionary, teacher, and friend. he is going to amazing things is Merced as a zone leader now. I will miss the awesome duets we used to do in our car while we were jamming out.

Anyways, I got transfered to Porterville now!!! My new companions name is Elder Brenneman! He's a super awesome, fun loving, red head who loves to joke around as much as I do! We absolutely love each other already!! He can do a super awesome Kronk voice ( from Emperors New Groove)!

On Wednesday we went to the church for an hour to get some paperwork done (yes, missionaries have to do paperwork...it sucks) and we come back out and my bike was stolen!!! All that was left was my companions bike and my helmet was lying on the ground! So at least I got to walk home safely!!

On Thursday we went and tracted out a Hmong referral that some other Elders had sent us and I was alone in speaking Hmong for the first time! But all is well!! I spoke as much as I could and he ended up saying we could come back!! I'm so excited to practice more Hmong!!

On Sunday we have church at 10 and it was really weird being in a ward of not just Hmong people...
I'm not sure how I feel about it yet...

That's all for this week though! Love you all!

Love you guys!!
Elder Richardson!!

I was able to come back on Saturday to see Emily get Baptized!  Awesome!

Hard to say goodbye!

SUNGLASSES!  We didn't want a picture with us crying.
